Neil Stevens AKA Crayonfire (Computer Arts)

His work can now be found in monthly football magazine 'When Saturday Comes'
However he first honed in his skills in a publishing house, where he designed and illustrated book covers. Their jackets remain his favourite medium. Stevens style effortlessly combines colour defined graphics, which sometimes have a very 'folky' feel. Although his work is mainly digital Neil Stevens trys to give handmade and traditional feels when he can. He becomes inspired by old folk tales and this is enhanced when choosing textures and colour choices. Often he will take crisp graphic forms and try to age them in someway.
The creative process of Crayonfire is very simple, he researches the subject matter which is included in the brief, brainstorms and sketches his drawings and will then upload his designs into illustrator to a vector form, a texture with be then placed into the image by photoshop. Currently Crayonfire is working on a children's illustrated book with a large publishing house. Stevens has also had requests to create work for a fashion retailers window. In the future stevens aims to keep up his present style in the hope that he will be noticed by a variety of clients who will offer him intersting briefs. 'There are many design opportunities out there and everyday you notice a new path that could lead to exciting work. Long may it continue.
