University of Bournemouth

University of Bournemouth: Foundation degree Commercial photography

The course is full time and runs for two years, if students succesfully complete this foundation degree there will be a guaranteed route to progress to the third year of BA (Hons) Commercial photography. This course isn't available as a three year course so all students would have to enrol on the foundation degree.

This is a focused area of work for 'creative thinkers' who want to succeed and have ambition to work in the Photography industry. The experience of students on this course is based around an understanding of commercial photography.

Year one of the course will provide creative and practical skills that will be extended upon through the course as you taken on more photography projects, new techniques in media will also be introduced as well as new processes in the form of caputre and photo manipulation. Guest lecturers will also be visiting photographers and professionals in Industry.

Year two of the course is building upon the skills that have already been learnt. However this year is more based around development in the particular pathway you wish to succed in. The projects in this year will be designed to develop research, conceptual and creative skills. A digital unit to this project will also provide an introduction to web designs and online/digital portfolios. The degree will end with an exhibition of work and other strategies to use in Industry.

When looking at the Universtity page it didn't tell me what the entry requirements were, although looking further into the website it told me that i needed five GCSE passes as well as a level 3 qualification.

I wanted to go here as i think this is the one that shows most potential out of commercial photography areas, as every member of staff has professional experience in some way and still remain active in those areas. Every member of the team has experience in a wide range of different areas. Which will be helpful, as i will learn knowledge of photography in a large variety of areas....
