"Combines great drawing skills and a flare for colour and texture with his love of graphic marks"
23 year old John Theeuswes begins his images with line work, He will then build on this by scanning the work he has created into photoshop and adding colour or textures.
Sometimes he may even scan his own textures that he has photographed. If he wants more depth to an illustration he will add a halftone texture.
Building his portfolio he has been contributing to other projects and collaborating with other designers, by doing this Theeuswes is hoping to find his "big break" Which he hopes will be in either the music industry, creating skateboard graphics or fashion illustration.
Johan believes his work is situated between figurative and realistic with some graphic elements. When asked who his greatest creative influences were so far he replied " My Ultimate Spider-Man collection, things that happen, mixing things that happen with other things that happen. Music, fashion and the skateboard/street scene."

He feels his idea client would be fashion brands, "awesome music bands" and skateboard companies. The reason he feels that these would be his ideal clients are because he finds that his work appeals to these clients. "It would make both sides happy."
As a young, upcoming designer he stil has a large future ahead of him. He hopes to achieve greatly so that he will be able to run his own business. However before that he would be happy with doing his own freelance work or even get an 'awesome agent' If those don't happen then he would be happy to work in a design company.
Johan Theeuswes has a large interest in experiments with narrative. For one of his own projects he created cubes which 'sported' illustrations that showed text on each face. The blocks can be placed in different ways so that an endless variety of visual stories can be created.
